On October 18, 1993, Healthy Community: Lunenburg Area held a Disability focus meeting in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. This meeting was designed to bring together people with disabilities in Lunenburg and Queens Counties to identify issues associated with living with a disability.

This meeting was a resounding success with over 100 people attending. Many participants had disabilities or were service providers of persons with disabilities. A wealth of information was acquired and a number of action projects were designed responding to these issues, one of which was the further development of the Lunenburg/Queens Action Council for People with Disabilities.
